The clock by which the world runs resets every once in a while, and with it the stories of the gods. The really old ones, whose faces you both know and don't, whose names are familiar to you from your childhood bedtimes. They come back as they were, but also not quite as they were - a new face here, a new shape there, a slightly different name or patronage occasionally. But the stories keep the same framework, and the old ones remember the same scripts.
